Things to Consider When Leaving Your Pup in the Car
Dogs should never be left in a vehicle unattended on a hot day just like a child should not be. The inside temperature of a vehicle can rise rapidly and cause a heat stroke. On a hot day, the temperature can build up so fast that it is not a good idea to leave your dog inside the vehicle even for just a couple minutes.
There is a misconception that you can leave your dog in the car if the windows are open for them. Although having the windows open a little bit will help to drop the temperature a couple degrees, it will not leave the vehicle cool enough to keep your dog comfortable. This will also leave your dog and other items in your vehicle vulnerable to people passing by.
If you need to bring your dog with you but have to stop somewhere on the way home that does not allow pets, you should leave your vehicle running with the air conditioning on. This will keep the temperature inside the vehicle cool enough until you make it back. Even when doing this, you should not leave your dog for more than a coupe minutes.
