Does the Nissan Altima Have AWD?

Whether you live somewhere with snowy and slippery weather or often take your vehicle off the beaten path, sometimes it’s nice to have a vehicle equipped with all-wheel drive. The only problem is that you generally have to opt for a large SUV or crossover in order to get it. Though there is the rare sedan that offers AWD, it seems that the option has only become rarer as time has gone on. So, when it comes to Nissan, does the Nissan Altima have AWD?

We’re delighted to announce that, YES, it does! Nissan just recently unveiled the 2019 Altima at the New York International Auto Show, and the addition of AWD was one of the most exciting changes for many drivers who have been waiting a long time to find the right sedan that also offers the particular drivetrain. So, yes, the Nissan Altima will offer AWD starting in the 2019 model year. If you’re interested, you can let us know ahead of the model’s fall 2018 release date.

What Else Is New and Changed on the 2019 Altima?

So, what else can you expect when you get behind the wheel? Well, the other exciting upgrade comes in the form of two new engine options.

The first, which will come standard on the Altima, is a 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder that not only improves power and performance but also has enhancements when it comes to engine noise and vibration. Then, there is the available 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine. The VC there stands for Variable-Compression, and as the term suggests, it allows the engine compression ratio to vary considerably, which means more variety with your driving experience, as the engine will be better suited to deliver the performance you desire at any given point in time.

These performance enhancements are certainly the highlight of the changes for the 2019 Nissan Altima, but we also can’t forget about the addition of a rear emergency braking system and ProPILOT Assist, which makes the driving experience less taxing by lessening the input required by driving for braking, accelerating or steering.
