The Goal of Nissan Driver Assistance Technology

At this point in time, Nissan believes that the ProPILOT Assist system is ready for single-lane highway traffic. Eventually, Nissan would like to enhance its technology far enough that it will be able to excel in multi-lane highway and city traffic. In the meantime, let’s discuss what the current ProPILOT technology is capable of.

What Does Nissan ProPILOT Assist Do Exactly?

Nissan ProPILOT Assist makes the driver’s car more intelligent, exciting, and adaptive. Reducing the stress and drama of stop-and-go highway traffic, Nissan ProPILOT Assist makes the morning commute far less frustrating and much more relaxed, as the system helps control acceleration, braking, steering, lane presence, etc.

How to Combine Nissan Intelligent Cruise Control and ProPILOT Assist

To activate the system, the driver needs only to press the blue “ProPILOT Assist ON” button, which is located in the right-side steering wheel spoke. Next, when the desired speed is reached, the driver should set the Intelligent Cruise Control. After this, it’s smooth cruising ahead as the vehicle will maintain your desired speed when applicable, carefully braking and accelerating as traffic changes. If for whatever reason—such as a traffic jam—the vehicle comes to a complete stop for more than 3 seconds, the driver needs only tap the accelerator or hit the “resume” button when traffic begins to move again.
