Best Affordable Cars For Drifting
Drifting is an art that is relatively new compared to the automobile itself. It started in Japan some 30 years ago but has since made huge waves all around the world. It even gave birth to Ken Block’s Gymkhana phenomenon! There is a certain type of car that is perfect for drifting, and that is an FR. This stands for front-engine, rear-wheel drive, and Nissan just so happens to be the King of the sport.
Nissan 240SX
The Nissan 240SX is undeniably the absolute best beginner car for drifting. It is extremely light, low to the ground, rear-wheel drive, and exists more prevalently with manual transmissions as opposed to automatic. The best part is that you can potentially find one siting in someone’s yard or at a junk yard that you can make road-worthy for cheap.
Nissan 300ZX
The 300ZX is a financial step above the 240SX, but the benefit from the step up is exponential. If you are dedicated to the drift, you will find one without heavy T-Tops, but we wouldn’t recommend doing that!
Nissan 350Z/370Z
The 370Z is the best drifting car to date to come from Nissan. It follows the same formula the Z cars always have and continues to live at the top of the leaderboards. After the Fairlady Z, the only way up is a Nissan Skyline, which will cost you a fortune.
